Democrats in Arizona's House of Representatives said on Thursday they would try once more to repeal an 1864 ban on abortion that may go into effect next month if not knocked down. The Arizona House Democrats said on social media that they would try to bring for a vote Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton's bill that calls for the repeal of the 160-year-old ban.

The issue now moves to the state Senate, which is also expected to vote to repeal the near-total ban the Arizona Supreme Court upheld earlier this month.

Three Republicans on Wednesday joined Democrats in the Arizona House to vote to repeal the state's controversial 1864 ban on nearly all abortions, which was revived by a court ruling earlier this month and which only includes exceptions to save the life of the pregnant woman. The final vote was 32-28.
